Strange Case of Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde
The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a classic mystery story. In fact Stevenson first wrote the story (after recalling a dream he had) with only the intentions of writing such an entertaining tale. Yet at the suggestion of his wife, he decided to revamp the mystery to comment on the dual nature of man and of society in general. Dr. Jekyll is a brilliant physician and a compassionate philanthropist with a long list of charity patients and a passion for progressive medicine, spending long hours in his laboratory, experimenting. When the father of his fiancee accuses the saintly doctor of being afraid of temptation, Dr. Jekyll becomes obsessed. He begins experimenting with various drugs and comes up with a concoction that separates his good personality, Dr. Jekyll, from his evil tendencies he calls "Mr. Hyde". Fascinated with the results, he decides to live as both people. As Mr. Edward Hyde, he frequents various dens of iniquity. Eventually, Dr. Jekyll's tenuous control over Mr. Hyde weakens, unleashing a murderous maniac into the streets of London...
